Corny title I know. But it's late, I should be in bed, and I'm struggling to come up with anything else.
My gorgeous hubby recently celebrated a significant birthday, so his very generous, loving, beautiful wife (lol) planned a surprise hot-air balloon flight over Melbourne. Well, it would have been a surprise if our imfamous weather hadn't let us down, resulting in the trip on his actual birthday being cancelled. Boohoo. But we did get absolutely gloriously perfect weather this time around, even if a week late.
The great thing about it being almost winter down here is the sun is rising really late, so we didn't have to get up before we actually went to bed to catch the sunrise.
We met at The Hilton with 13 other eager beavers, and headed up to Northcote where we were due to leave from. Following are a few of the gazillion photos I took.
This was on the oval where we took off from, all nicely lit up for us. Or for the folk that were there when we arrived, busy bouncing away on their excercise balls and doing goodness knows what else when they could have been in bed sleeping. We at least had a decent excuse to be up. (I don't like excercise very much if you can't tell...)
This was another of the balloons taking off. There were three in total. Two from our group and one with another company.
Looking straight down. And, yes, I had the camera very tightly secured around my neck.
And looking up. Not that we did much of that. But, boy, it sure was hot when that burner was going. I think it was actually warmer 3000ft up than it was on the ground.
This is the actually city of Melbourne, for those of you not lucky enough to live here.
And for those of you not lucky enough to be married to him (ha) this is my hubby, the birthday boy, enoying a quite moment (pretending he can't hear the constant click of my camera). Hope you had a happy birthday sweetie. And I hope you remember this when my turn comes around. :)
